WWII Memorial, LCVP, LVT, and Sherman
Those who say that we're in a time when there are no heroes, well, they just don't know where to look...the sloping hills of Arlington national cemetery, with it's row upon row of simple white markers, bearing crosses, or stars of David, they add up to only a tiny fraction of the price that has been paid for our freedom. Each one of those markers is a monument to the type of hero I am talking about, their lives ended in places called Belau Wood, the Argonne, Omaha Beach, Salerno, and half way across the world on Guadalcanal, Tarawa, Pork chop Hill, the Chosin Reservoir, and in a hundred rice paddies and jungles in a place called Vietnam. To all of those who fell under foreign skies, warrior rest, thy task is done.
My Great uncle Eddie stormed Omaha Beach, he was in the 4th Infantry. he was a technician 5th grade, and was in charge of radio wiring, and calling in artillery on German positions, he went in with 7 men and got out with 4. He passed away October 1st, 2013
