During April of 1941, Jagdgeschwader 27 arrived in Western Libya to support Rommel's Afrika Korps. JG 27 had an immediate impact on the campaign, which had been previously dominated by the Commonwealth's Desert Air Force. They continued to fight in Libya, Egypt and the rest of the Western Desert Campaign, until their evacuation in November of 1942.
