A bloody battle in the South Pacific. This and Iwo Jima were very bloody battles. The island is a long one with thick jungles and little villages. Fight it. Live it. Become it. Japanese Journal: We thought the Americans would be easy to crush and conquer. Especially during the beginning of this terrible war. We were dead wrong, and for most of us, literally. I will do anything to honer my country, my people, and my family. I WILL NEVER SURRENDER, FOR IT IS DISHONERABLE! I sure do hope I live through this battle... An early battle in the war. This was before Stalingrad but was not as bloody, but it was still a major one. Fight it. Live it. Become it. Russian Journal: These Winters are brutal, freezing cold, and really slowing both sides down. We don't have enough space for sleeping in tents, so some of us have to sleep outside next to the fire! Even then there isnt enough room so some of us have to find shelter ourselves in building ruins or anything that has a roof above it. The Germans are putting up a fight but we are doing well.
