The whole world was involved, as countries allied themselves with either the United States or Russia. War broke out around the whole world, and in the end, the United States and Russia fired their nuclear missiles at each other, and each other's allies. Following this incident, more nuclear weapons were used, and Earth became a wasteland, with little standing buildings left, and little technology left. US special forces land on Russian soil, and begin Operation Spearhead, assaulting a small Russian town left alone during the course of the war near Alaska. Russian Forces attempt to counter them.
