This fort is located on the ruins of the village of Samil, which was eradicated by a mudslide many years ago. After the mudslide, vegetation was planted around the area to prevent future mudslides. The land, now safe from mudslides, is used by the Freedom Army because it is the only plateau in the mountainous region around it. The fort is located in a continental climate zone with four seasons, the most prominent being winter. In the wintertime, temperatures are typically around -13°F (-25°C) but have been known to reach -40°F (-40°C). Moreover, heavy snowfall occurs during the winter. However, unlike the hostile winter, summertime temperatures are quite comfortable, typically reaching around 80°F.
