In 1966 it was standard practice for each Royal Air Force station to house an Alert Shed (also known as a QRA Shed) with two interceptor aircraft, either Phantoms or Lightnings. Today you can see surviving examples at Binbrook, Bruntingthorpe and Leuchars.
