  • MAMENTZ, 1916

    For years afterwards the farmers found them – the wasted young, turning up under their plough blades as they tended the land back into itself. A chit of bone, the china plate of a shoulder blade, the relic of a finger, the blown and broken bird’s egg of a skull, all mimicked now in flint, breaking blue in white across this field where they were told to walk, not run, towards the wood and its nesting machine guns.

  • 'At What Cost?' 1918

    "Like zombies, Look at the state of them." "That's your own gas, Sudden wind change. 'S our own doing." This vignette was made and published by ScotlandTheBrave99 and Idontlikeblox. It is based on John Singer Sergeant's gassed, painted in 1919. It shows soldiers suffering from effects of Chlorine Gas. The worst of it was, It was a real scene Sergeant based on victims of a sudden wind change during a British gas attack. It is now held by the Imperial War Museum.
