While other companies were dabbling in weapons and interdimensional portal research, Aperture was ahead of it's competition, researching and successfully testing Quantum Tunneling portal technology. Even in the collapse of humanity in the early 2010's, the facility remained operational and untouched, with research still continuing to this day.
