Purchase of in game items is done through typing in chat (e.g. buy Iron Sword, learn Fireball). Saving and loading player data is done manually through chat as well (e.g. save, load). You can remove tools from your backpack by typing "toss " and then the name of the item. Recommended to be played on graphics setting 3 or lower.
