    Every instrument pointed at Saturn's rings returns corrupted data. The starfield behind the ring plane fractures into streaks, splitting the stars, as if the light is being dragged apart along axes that should not exist. From Earth, it looks like a clean tear through space itself. Seven probes crossed the threshold. All seven went silent mid-transmission. No crash data. No signal decay. Clean telemetry, then nothing. Scientists call it the Starsplitter. They named it before they understood how little that word would explain. Machines do not come back. They are sending a human.
