On the desolate, abandoned mining planet of Asphodel rests the Temple of Syrinx. Though it is riddled with what appear to be ancient computer terminals and minimalist architecture, the structure's atrium holds an advanced trans-dimensional gate far exceeding modern Alternian technological capabilities. Zeto engineers were able to harness its powers for use by the Alternian military, which can allow entire battalions of the Defense Legion's soldiers and even its fleets to invade planets unfathomably far away from the Alternian galaxy. The structure and perhaps the entire planet is believed to have been created by architects of the mysterious spacefaring race that turned Alternia into a galactic superpower known as the Journeymen. It is the first - and largest - of many similar structures discovered by the Alternians.
