Berbera, British Somaliland 1929

Berbera was home of the 1920 Somaliland campaign against the "Mad Mullah" and his Dervish State opposed to British rule. These Somali fighters have risen again in the year 1929 in wake of a worsening economic situation in the Horn of Africa because of the depression. A contingent of The King's African Rifles and other British Army units have gathered in Berbera to quell the rebellion.
