Peking, June - August, 1900

The Siege of the International Legations in Peking (now Beijing), occurred from June to August 1900, lasting 55 days. Part of the wider Boxer Rebellion (1899 - 1901), the siege pitted the outnumbered defenders of the Legation Quarter, made up of troops of the Legation Quarter and civilian volunteers, against the forces of the Qing Army and the Boxers. The siege was eventually lifted by the Eight-Nation Alliance after an international relief force marched on Peking.
