During the Battle of Cape Engaño the Zuikaku was hit with 7 torpedos and 9 bombs but the crew did not abandon ship until the naval ensign was lowered and after that many of the crew refused to abandon ship, here they are portrayed exclaiming "Banzai!" as they sink with the ship.

This would mark the end of organized resistance on the island of Saipan. They didn't know that the Empire of Japan had surrendered 4 months ago.
