Every 9 years, Vikings go to the Uppsala to sacrifice 9 of every kind, including humans, to the gods Odin Thor and Freyr , Odin is the all father, Thor is god of thunder, Freyr is got of fertility and fair weather. In order for the human sacrifices to matter they had to be important in society, this is to show that no matter how important or large the sacrifice is they will always sacrifice to the gods.
