Monastery of St Mary Collegata of Montecristo was founded by Bishop Agrivalius of Montecristo c.11 century AD.Monastery was renovated to its today look in 1672 AD by abt.Sebastian .He was given title of Grof.Due to later influence of French culture he was given title of Count-Abbot of Montecristo.Ever since his sucessors,who are also his family members are entitled to hold this title.Abbey is also well known for its olive plants and there fore the nick name olive hill.
