Isidor and Ida Straus (Co-owners of Macy's department store) were first class passengers on the RMS Titanic. In the night of the sinking the elderly couple, including their maid, were seen near Lifeboat 8. The Officer in charge of the Lifeboat was willing to let both of them on. Yet Mr. Straus refused to board because he knew there still women and children aboard. He urged Mrs. Straus to go aboard Lifeboat 8. Mrs. Straus was heard saying, "We have lived together for many years. Where you go, I go." While their maid survived Mr. and Mrs. Straus perished in the sinking. (Credit to the Model Makers)
