Description

This place simulates quantum chromodynamics, also known as the strong nuclear force. The strong nuclear force is what keeps composite particles such as protons and neutrons together. In this simple example, there is a cloud of three neutrons and three protons, a total of 18 quarks. The small spheres represent up quarks and the large spheres represent the heavier down quarks. The coloured lines are exchanges of gluons.
