  • BAMPFA Environment Redesign

The Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive (BAMPFA) are a combined art museum and repertory movie theater and archive, associated with the University of California, Berkeley. In a final project arranged by the Architectural Design course from the university's Academic Talent Program (ATDP) in 2018, students were tasked to repurpose the area including the museum's external display board by Oxford Street and Addison Street with better seating options, restrooms, and vegetation. In my redesign, Addison Street becomes a shared pedestrianized street similar to those seen in London's Exhibition Road, and Auckland's Queen Street. Not only would this new road layout promote drivers' heightened awareness, the street's shared space also provides easier viewing access to the display board because of the absence of curbs and allows the street to be utilized with greater versatility.
