Jerusalem (/dʒəˈruːsələm/; Hebrew: יְרוּשָׁלַיִם Yerushaláyim; Arabic: القُدس‎ al-Quds About this sound  ),[i] located on a plateau in the Judean Mountains between the Mediterranean and the Dead Sea, is one of the oldest cities in the world, Jerusalem.

King David originally captured the small village from the Jebusites, a Canaanite tribe descended from Noah's son Ham. David conquered ancient Jerusalem in approximately 1004 BC and it became known as the City of David. David worked to make Jerusalem a city for God. But, ever since David's day the "city of peace" has known turmoil, war, and bloodshed much of the time.
